DJ and LIVE BAND GIGS - 2012
Faith
(Re-Birth)
...... the Italian label has set an incredible precedent of almost topping itself with each successive release, unleashing corker after corker. The upward spiral continues with this behemoth anthem for the Boys Own Faith nights, forged by a man known to many as half of cheeky 90s dance titans Stretch & Vern, who now casts his net wider into the pure house spirit still cavorting out there. Using Paradise Garage-friendly vocal disco a launch-pad, Stretch has perfected a gorgeous slab of lustrous, string-drenched house, bringing in London songstress P.J. Higgins to add a vocal which oozes pure class and soul. The remixes take it a step further again with Faze Action injecting lush, NY boogie flavours while label boss Shield turns in an exotic , beautiful arrangement, voice to the fore and boasting a fabulous bass-dominate interlude [also coming in Dub form]. Ribside also contributes a shadowy, tribal-tinged version with plenty of space before a Dub of the original heads straight for the dance floor with ceiling-pointed limbs in mind. Like the club nights and attendant Faith fanzine, this record carries on the spirit of house music and all who currently sail in her, even better that the flag now seems back to being the Jolly Roger.

Ribside at the Bell - Review
Written by Kev Adams
It’s been a bug bear of mine for some time. I’m sorry folks, I realise I’ve been going on about this for a long time now but why is there NO ELECTRONIC MUSIC of any kind ever performed in Bridgnorth!?! And I don’t mean DJ’s and whichever variant of House music is currently allowed at the Crown. Of course I could have just been missing a hidden scene somewhere, bleeping away just off the radar?
We live in a town with a fair few good venues these days but they’re mostly frequented by folk, soft rock and blues bands, as good as many of these are too (and don’t get me started on covers ;-). It’s 2009 though, let’s hear something a little different please. Don’t get me wrong my taste is pretty diverse, I’m often blown away by the performers I see in the town but I’d love to find a venue willing to take a chance on something new once in a while. Then I get chatting to Clive Booth, ex-Bridgnorthian and the man behind the excellent Ribside http://www.myspace.com/ribsidecoadunate
Clive was keen to get involved with the Bridgnorth Music Festival but I was having trouble finding a suitable venue. He mentioned that he’d love to play at the Bell for old times sake as he’d played down there in the mid-80’s over 20 years ago. Of course we’re lucky to have Guy running a great music pub down there these days and although I knew he’d booked his main acts for the weekends of the festival, it was fairly easy to persuade him to take a chance on something different on a Thursday - for a band that would be happy to play for a few beers.
Clive got a band together for the occasion too, so turned up on the night with a guitarist, bass player, himself on various pieces of percussion, hi hat, laptop and microphone, another guy with a record deck and mic and yet another guitarist (who didn’t appear to plug in but who contributed enthusiastically all evening all the same).
The pub started to fill up slowly, early on just a trickle but eventually there was a sizeable very decent crowd for a Thursday evening. It was obvious a fair few brave souls had ventured out looking for something a bit different. Not to mention plenty of the bands mates keen to see Clive and the crew performing live. We were vindicated. Perhaps there WAS a yearning for electronic music in Bridgnorth I hoped!
And what a noise they made too, crammed into the corner they looked for all the world like they’d have had a top night of it without the rest of us there. The night wore on and the pace hopped up, the lads really did us proud. Electronic beats rocked the pub for the first time in over 20 years and with the an intensity that would have even scared the young Clive Booth back in ‘85.
It totally polarised the audience too though, it was brilliant. People loved it or hated it - “they’re using a laptop” went some of the nay sayers! It’s an electronica act where computers are expected to do some of the heavy lifting please pay attention there, it’s not cheating! I found myself apologising to bewildered, head shaking folks that it was now 2009 and just for a change it wasn’t folk, blues or rock. Don’t worry normal service will be resumed from tomorrow. Hold on why am I apologising? “Why’s that guitarist not even plugged in?” Hmmm no idea bit odd that, look though they’re having a great time of it. “And why is that bloke with the Mic climbing up the wall and licking the window”, OK you got me there, I’ve no idea what he’s there for either.
Most of us just listened though, smiled and experienced something a bit different on the staid old Bridgnorth music scene.
Have to say a HUGE thank you to Clive and the band for heading over, everyone who made it across to listen too, what a brilliant night thank you for coming. Even if you weren’t impressed, thanks for taking a chance. And an especially big thank you to Guy for giving us a chance to try something different. Even though it hadn’t been expected he paid them for their trouble minus the beer they consumed, although judging by that bloke licking the windows I think they’d had a few.
Who knows, maybe they’ll be back again in another 20 years time!

New EP > Radio Juan > featuring Nick Heyward and Anne Lovett
Now on iTunes, WLM Records present "Radio Juan" the 3rd EP release from Ribside with special appearances from Nick Heyward (Haircut 100) and internationally renowned pianist/composer Anne Lovett.
This latest four track offering from the Ribside stable moves from the maudlin introduction and barely rises from sadness and melancholy until the final, bizarre inclusion. A funky exit to what is otherwise a doleful experience.
Recorded over a three year period, Radio Juan is designed as a tribute to popular, yet serious art through four decades. "Daring Wife In London", written when the UK capital was in a terror frenzy, is a manic blend of sweet synth pads and booming drums with only the soothing vocal of Nick Heyward (Club Boy at Sea from the Album North Of A Miracle) to guide us safely out of the turbulence.
Raindrops on Mars by Anne Lovett was voted Best UK Composition at MusicAid '07. "Get a Job, Stepmon" (sic) borrows the disconsolate and beautiful piano from this recording and, mixed with a highly pitched vocal from a 70's heart throb and brushed drums, turns it into a haunting slice of electronic jazz.
The opening track, "All With Immaculate Teeth" was composed with one central theme. Monotony. In sharp contrast, this desired sameness is broken at intervals by the idol of the odeons. With the greatest respect. The (garden) video for the song has been on the internet for several months now and has attracted much criticism. Belated thanks to Bent for the beat sample stolen from Swollen. Ribside owe Bent many beers if this EP takes off and as many if not.
The closing song "All The Money" started life as a tribute to Gilbert O'Sullivan and although a vocal sample was originally intended, Clive (aka Ribside) stumbled upon a Japanese TV advert for a local beer featuring a GOS song with overdubbed Japanese actors. The greedy girl and rising corporate suit won the day. Inspired by Toffeetronic's In The Cellar. It's just nuts.

What are piles? Piles are swellings on the inside of the anal canal, the short, muscular tube that connects the rectum (back passage) with the anus, in areas known as the anal cushions. They are round swellings that can reach the size of a grape. Piles are not varicose veins.
Types of piles Although piles develop from inside the anal canal, they can hang down out of their normal place. Piles can be described as follows.
First degree piles are swellings on the inside lining of the anal canal. They bleed but can't be seen from outside the anus.
Second degree piles are larger and stick out (or prolapse) from the anus when you open your bowels, but return on their own afterwards.
Third degree piles are similar, but hang out from the anus and only return inside when pushed back in.
Fourth degree piles permanently hang down from the anus and you can't push them back inside.
They may become extremely swollen and painful if the blood in them clots.
